Book Review: if you were me and lived in… Colonial America

Since we are a Homeschooling family, I’m always on the look out for a good book to read.  History has always been my most favorite subject and I’m happy to say that LittleChefs 1 & 2 say the same!

We follow the typical school year taking off during the summer months.  So book reading is at an all time low right now.  What boy has time to read a book when the weather is so nice out and there’s a yard, or park, to explore!  When I received this new book in the mail, I was eager to open it.  The cover caught not only my eye, but the kids eye also.  Inside was equally impressive with full color pages.

I don’t recall ever reading a book that is from a child’s point of view.  The book focuses on children living in Colonial America. During a time when gender was definitely separated and tasks clearly assigned based upon gender, the book describes the life of a boy and girl.  Everything from their daily lifestyle, including chores, foods typically eaten, clothing worn and much more. Even Mother and Father roles from that time period are described!  I really appreciated that it was historically accurate and not just full of a bunch of fluff!

This is a book in a series and we will definitely be purchasing the others.  I highly recommend this book for any age!  This wonderful book can be found on Amazon. #colonialamerica

Disclosure: I received this book for free, but the review written is my honest opinion.
