This juicy Honey Glazed Ham is the perfect main course for your next holiday meal. Whether you’re planning Easter dinner, a Christmas celebration, or just a family dinner, this classic recipe features a sweet and sticky honey glaze that caramelizes beautifully in the oven.
Preheat oven to 325°F. Remove ham from packaging and discard any included glaze packet.
Place ham cut-side down in a large roasting pan. If desired, add 1/4 cup of water to the bottom of the pan to prevent sticking or scorching. Cover tightly with aluminum foil.1 spiral-sliced half ham,1/4 cup water.
Bake ham for 1 hour and 30 minutes (about 12-15 minutes per pound).
While ham is baking, prepare the glaze. In a medium saucepan, combine honey, brown sugar, butter, Dijon mustard, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, ground nutmeg and orange juice.1 cup honey,1/2 cup brown sugar,1/4 cup unsalted butter,2 tablespoons Dijon mustard,1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar,1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon,1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg,2 tablespoons orange juice.
Bring the glaze mixture to a simmer over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally. Cook for 7-10 minutes until slightly thickened. Remove from heat and set aside.
After the initial baking time, remove ham from oven and increase oven temperature to 400°F.
Carefully remove foil and brush half of the glaze all over the ham, working some between the slices.
Return ham to oven, uncovered, and bake for 20 minutes.
Brush the remaining glaze over the outside of the ham, cover loosely with foil, and bake for an additional 5–10 minutes until the glaze is warmed through and set.
Remove from oven and let rest for 15 minutes before serving.
Transfer ham to a serving platter and spoon any glaze drippings from the pan over the top before serving.
Notes
TIP: Before adding the glaze, spoon out excess liquid from the bottom of the pan so it can set properly. Then heat just until the ham reaches 140°F in the thickest part without touching the bone. If the outside begins to darken too quickly, loosely tent with foil.
