Slow Cooker Applesauce is so much better than anything you’ll find at the store. Made with fresh apples, a touch of brown and white sugar, and warm spices, this simple recipe has just the right amount of sweetness.
Peel and chop apples into 1-inch pieces. Place in slow cooker.3 pounds mixed apples
Add water, brown sugar, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt to slow cooker. Stir to combine. 3/4 cup water,1/3 cup brown sugar,1/3 cup granulated sugar,1 teaspoon ground cinnamon,1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg,1/4 teaspoon salt.
Cover and cook on LOW 4 hours, stirring once halfway through.
Remove lid and stir in lemon juice and vanilla extract. 2 tablespoons lemon juice,1 teaspoon vanilla extract.
For chunky applesauce, mash with potato masher to desired consistency. For smooth applesauce, use immersion blender or transfer to regular blender in batches.
Taste and adjust sweetness or spices as needed.
Serve warm or refrigerate until chilled.
