Recipe Ingredients

You’ll need the following ingredients to make this amazing Cream Cheese Dip Sausage:

  • Breakfast Sausage: I used Jimmy Dean, but any sausage will work.
  • Cream Cheese: I prefer to use the full fat variety and bring it to room temperature.
  • Velveeta Cheese: It makes the dip super cheesy!
  • Rotel: I use Mild, the original Rotel sometimes has a little kick, but use whichever Rotel tomatoes you prefer!
  • Heavy Cream
  • Garlic Powder
  • Onion Powder
  • Italian Seasoning
Ingredients for a creamy dip include a block of raw sausage, a cup of heavy cream, a can of Rotel, cream cheese, Velveeta cheese cubes, and small bowls of Italian seasoning, onion powder, and garlic powder, arranged on a light surface.

INGREDIENT NOTES:

  • Breakfast Sausage: Adds savory flavor and hearty texture to the dip.
  • Cream Cheese: Creates a rich, creamy base for the dip.
  • Rotel Tomatoes: Brings a spicy, tangy kick that balances the creamy cheese. I LOVE Rotel! Our Easy Rotel Pasta is another great recipe that uses cans of Rotel.

HOW TO MAKE SAUSAGE CREAM CHEESE DIPSTEP-BY-STEP:

Check out the quick visual guides below. For full instructions and ingredients, see the printable recipe card at the end.

Step 1: In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown sausage until no longer pink, breaking it into crumbles as it cooks. Drain excess grease for best results.

Step 2: Reduce heat to medium-low. Add cream cheese and Velveeta cheese to the skillet. Stir gently as the cream cheese melts and combines with the browned sausage.

Step 3: Add the entire can of Rotel (including green chiles and juice), heavy cream, garlic powder, onion powder, and Italian seasoning.

Step 4: Simmer the mixture, stirring frequently, until the cheese is fully melted and the dip is hot and bubbly, about 10 minutes.

Step 5: Transfer to a small crock pot to keep warm or serve immediately in a bowl. This creamy dip pairs perfectly with tortilla chips or corn chips.

Storage and Reheating

Storage: Store leftovers in the refrigerator in an airtight container. It can be kept for up to 3 days.

Reheating: Warm on the stove top over low heat or microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring until heated through.

Freezing: This dip is best enjoyed fresh, as freezing can affect the texture of the cheese.

Additions & Substitutions

ADDITIONS:

  • Stir in black beans or diced jalapeños for added texture and heat.
  • Top with fresh cilantro or green onions for a pop of color.
  • Stir in a handful of sharp cheddar cheese for extra cheesiness.

SUBSTITUTIONS:
