  1. Prepare the Caramels: Warm 3 caramels in the microwave for about 10 seconds. They should be soft but not melted – just right for molding.
  2. Shape the Turkey: Roll 2 and 1/2 caramels into a smooth ball, then gently squeeze one end to form a teardrop shape for the turkey’s body.
  3. Form the Legs: Split a half piece of caramel into two larger pieces and two smaller ones. Roll the larger pieces into balls and shape them into turkey legs, attaching them to the body.
  4. Add the Arms: Roll the smaller pieces into thin ropes, shape them into an “S,” and place them on the sides of the turkey’s body to represent arms.

Finishing Touches:

  • Freeze for Firmness: Briefly placing the turkeys in the freezer helps them set fully, ensuring the limbs don’t droop.
  • Presentation: For a creative Thanksgiving dessert presentation, you can arrange a delightful array of themed cupcakes. Place your caramel turkeys on cupcakes with green frosting to mimic a grassy field. Alongside them, feature cupcakes designed to look like mashed potatoes with gravy, as well as ones resembling peas and carrots. Add some classic dessert cupcakes to the mix for variety. It’s a fun way to bring some extra cheer to your holiday meal!

Instructions

  • Warm 3 caramels in the microwave for about 10 seconds. They should be soft and moldable, if not place back in the microwave on 3 seconds
  • Take 2 and 1/2 of the caramels and roll them into a smooth ball. Gently squeeze one end of the ball on the sides (in a tear shape). Set onto a bit of plastic wrap (or just use one of the caramel wrappers) so it won’t stick to your work surface
  • Now, take the remaining half piece of caramel.  Break it into 4 pieces – two bigger pieces and 2 smaller ones
  • Roll the 2 larger pieces into balls and then shape into your turkey legs. Gently press these onto the end of the turkey body you pressed in.
